 How to use a discussion board ?

Hi

It seems that in 2009, scientists know how to analyze microarray data or to interpret a crappy western result, but some of you have no idea about the way to use a forum.

This message is there to correct this. Here is the protocol Very Happy



Registration:

Click on the icon on the top of the page to create an account.
Read the “Forum terms of services” and click on “I Agree to these terms” (By the way, If you are agree…)

You have to use a valid E-mail address and to choose a username and a password.
Click on “Save”.

You then have to open your personal mailbox. You should have received an E-mail form this forum. Click on the web address to confirm that the E-mail address you entered is correct.

It’s opening a web page of the forum saying that your account is activated.



Login:

To be able to use your account and post messages, you have to open your session by clicking on the icon.
You just have to inscribe the username and password you choose during the registration and to click on “log in”
If you are not using your personal computer, think to click on before leaving.



Profile:

As soon as you are connected, please take time to click on the to edit your personal information and to modify different options. Do not miss the different subcategories on the top right
(Information | Preferences | Signature | Avatar | Friends and foes | Topic is being watched)



Post a new topic:

Create a topic to start a new discussion board on a topic that does not already exist.
Open the category related to the message you want to make and click on the icon on the top left.
Give a name to your topic and write your message. Click on “Send” to finalize.
Every member is now able to read your message.



Post a reply:

When you want to send a reply in a topic, click on the icon. Just write and send.
On the top right of every messages, you have a icon. It will automatically enter the text of the selected message. It’s usefull if you want to answer an “old” message.
If a moderator decided to close a topic, the Reply icon will be change for a icon. In this case, it’s not possible to post anymore.



If you want to make a modification in your posts:

Do not post a new reply to say that you made a mistake, or to add a little information. Avoid posting 2 successive replies, it will be consider as flood and may be deleted by a moderator.
On each of your messages, there is an icon. Click on it for any modification of an existing message.



Send a Personal Message (PM):

If you want to share information only with a specific user, use the icon. The icon is accessible at the end of any message or on the user profile.
This forum has an E-mail account automatically activated with registration. You can access it by clicking on or
Once you send a PM, the user will receive a message to the webmail address (the one used during registration), to advice him that he have a new message in the PM service of the forum.
This service does NOT give to the interlocutor your personal E-mail address.
